Lambadi Embroidery

Lambadi embroidery is a vibrant, intricate hand-stitching tradition developed by the Lambadi, a nomadic tribe of India. Historically, these stitches were used to decorate traditional tribal garments, reflecting the tribe’s identity, rituals, and stories through color, pattern, and texture. The embroidery features mirrorwork, chain stitches, and geometric motifs, each carefully crafted by hand and passed down through generations.

Today, Porgai artisans continue this heritage, adapting the traditional stitches for contemporary textiles while preserving the technique’s authenticity and cultural significance. Each piece carries the rhythm, precision, and artistry of the artisan’s hand, making every embroidered fabric unique and rich with heritage.
